Actor, Writer, Musician, Clown

Amy Virginia Buchanan is an actor, writer, musician, and clown. She has received a bachelor’s degree in performance from the University of Kansas and a professional training certificate from Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre. Since moving to New York in 2011, she has performed, produced, and/or directed at the following venues and events: Dixon Place, HERE, Lost Horizons Night Market, Little Theatre, Incubator Arts Project, Housing Works Bookstore, the Drama Bookshop, Flimbiz Recycling, the Center for Performance Research, the Brooklyn Lyceum, the People’s Improv Theater, the Brick, WOW, Public Assembly, Access Theater, Littlefield, and Dead Herring. She serves as the Artistic Director for the Spring St. Social Society, a production company and creative community that brings people together in unexpected spaces for cabaret variety shows and coursed meals with performance elements. Her weekly Storytime at the Housing Works Bookstore Café has been covered by Time Out New York Kids and will be featured as a part of the Highline’s summer children’s series. She presented on clown and the crossover of studies through family relationships at the Babel Conference in September of last year. And she just started really recording her music, so be on the look out for a download very soon.
